REFIDS

Want to track how many fans are referred by a band’s website or Facebook page?

Want to give your co-promoters custom links to see how many clicks and tickets they bring to the table?

REFIDs can sort that!

THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT OPTIONS
WHEN IT COMES TO TRACKING:

For regular and continuing activity e.g weekly newsletters, tracking sales from a homepage.

For one-off activity e.g give bands on a particular events line-up a custom link to track sales.

These will need to be set up in Backline before you use them – instructions are below.

Click marketing

Click referrals

Click create referral

Type in a referral / description name

Type in a unique tag (the code you will add to the url)

Click save

ADDING A REFERRAL ID TO A STANDARD URL:

Simply add ?REFID=xxx (where xxx is your tag) to the end like this:

ADDING A REFERRAL ID TO A URL WITH ADDITIONAL CONVENTIONS E.G BRANDING TAG-CREATED REFIDs:

The ? is used if it follows the event ID – for anything else it’s a &. For example, if your URL contains a branding tag e.g ?pl=brandingtest, then you will need to add your referral tracking tag after with an & to create a valid url.

Make sure there are no gaps as this will break the tracking
